A Bit About Me

My name is Lizzie Philbin, DPT and I am a doctor of physical therapy.  I graduated from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USA) in San Marcos, CA in 2013 and have been practicing as a Clinic Director at a local outpatient orthopedic clinic for the last 11 years, where I have developed my manual therapy skills and progressed my treatment approach.  After working in the corporate setting, I have opted to transition into private practice where I can spend more time with my patients.

I have taken a variety of continuing education courses over the years, including manual therapy certification courses from USA and the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), Owen’s Recovery Blood Flow Restriction Training, Pilates for Rehab Professionals through APPI, and was recently certified as a Pain Free Performance Specialist.

I am dedicated to my patient care and thrilled for the opportunity to spend more one-on-one time with patients to provide the best patient-centered care possible. I apply a whole-body approach to treatment, considering the entire body and complete patient history. I practice functional manual therapy, improving efficiency of movement and posture, then provide neuromuscular re-education and progressive functional activity to return patients to their previous ability. I am passionate about treating symptoms of chronic pain and auto-immune conditions, including weakness, soft tissue and joint dysfunction, dizziness and fatigue, visceral and vagus nerve mobility.  I treat from head to toe, including temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), and am always up for a challenge.

Born and raised in San Diego, when I am not in the clinic, I enjoy exploring our beautiful city, hiking on Cowles Mountain and around Mission Trails, camping in our local mountains, enjoying time with my partner, Wayne, and watching his son play baseball.
